The Hex Files/Hp Fandom Charity Auction

It seems more and more often than more of Harry Potter fandom is starting to disappear, but I think it's the most shocking, and saddening thing to me as both a writer and long time fangirl that archives such as The Hex Files and HP Fandom Archive are the next on the proverbial chopping block if the owner, Sher De Lune does not get any monetary help from us. It goes without saying that both archives have contributed so much to well-being of our fandom, and some of the fandom's oldest and most belovedstories will disappear without a trace without either archive to host it. So I'm proposing both a donation drive and a charity drive for those like me who can't afford to give monetary help, but would love to auction off a fanwork to help the cause.

If you want to donate you can do it here

Or you can offer and bid on a fanwork in the comments below. The minimum bid is $5, and the bidding ends August 1st!

ETA: Because it was pointed out that I didn't make this clear enough, *headdesk*. Anyway, I'm making it a rule that it has to be a brand new fanwork, and after the bidding closes in August, people will have to take a screencap of their receipts (please feel free to black out any incriminating personal information you want) and email them to lindseyblythe1@gmail.com before they can receive their fanwork.

It seems like from the notice posted on both archives that it is more than just the funds at issue, is Sher willing to continue being the admin?

These are two of my favorite archives and I would hate to see them go the way of the Silver Snitch

From what I heard from her, Yes she is willing to continue the site if she has enough donations to continue it. However, I think your best bet is to ask Sher directly just to be sure. Thanks for coming by!

Since I am so broke, I will offer some custom cover art, icons, and wallpapers. You can look at my fanart here or here.

Is there anyway she could add on some people to help move it to AO3 through Open Doors? Honestly, it seems the best option to make sure its preserved. Because even if she gets the funds for it now does not mean this won't happen again and again in the future.

From what the note said there needs to be around 8,000 links put in one by one and while it sounds like a lot of work I am sure there are people willing to do it to keep from losing the archive.

Sher said, that she would love some help. However, she can't do it alone, because she has MS, and it's a lot of stories that she would have to individually import into A03.

In the end, she would love the help and if you guys would rather, you can go ahead and contact her and see if she wants to do that. In the end I just want to help, so anyway either by donating money or getting her some much needed volunteers (and I would volunteer but I just don't have the time at the moment) By all means go ahead and contact her and volunteer!

Sorry to butt in, but is there a way to contact her, I wouldn't mind helping move stories to AO3. Thanks!

Am happy to help moving them too

Okay, well the two ways to contact her listed above. Let her know, and we'll wait and see what she wants to do. She did seem that it would move it over to A03 if she had enough volunteers to help her.

I second this! If this is a go, I'm sure we can find enough people to help make this happen!

I am thirding this and would be willing to help import HEX files to AO3. It is the best option, I feel.

I will donate cover art up for auction. Anyone who bids will get a cover for whatever fic they choose - be it their own or someone elses. Crossovers are fine, too.
